Adjective, Adverb and Comparison

Adjective ใช้ขยายคำนาม Adjective สามารถทำให้เป็น Adverb ได้ด้วยการเติม "ly" ไปข้างท้าย
Adverb     ใช้ขยายคำกริยา คำคุณศัพท์ หรือคำวิเศษณ์ด้วยกัน

She is a quick worker. He is a careful children. They are noisy children	She works quickly. He dirves carefully. They play noisily.

ข้อควรระวัง
1.Adjective บางตัว เมื่อเป็น Adverb ใช้รูปเดิม

Adjective	Adverb
This is a very fast train. He is a hard worker. It is a straight road.	It goes very fast. He works hard. It runs straight for miles

2.	Adverb บางตัวมี 2 รูป แต่ความหมายต่างกัน ตัวอย่าง He works hard. เขาทำงานหนัก The birds are flying high. นกบินสูง He came late. เขามาสาย

3.Verb บางตัวที่แสดงความรู้สึกต้องใช้ adjective ขยาย ได้แก่     

feels	รู้สึก	smell	ได้กลิ่น
look	ดูเหมือนว่า,ท่าทาง	become	กลายเป็น
seem	ดูเหมือนว่า,ท่าทาง	turn	กลายเป็น
appear	ดูเหมือนว่า,ท่าทาง	taste	มีรส
ตัวอย่าง    The rose smells sweet. กุหลาบมีกลิ่นหอม The fur feels soft. ขนสัตว์ดูอ่อนนุ่ม The milk tastes sour. นมมีรสเปรี้ยว ยกเว้น เมื่อ Verb เหล่านี้มี object ต้องใช้ adverb ขยาย ตัวอย่าง He looked at me happily. เขามองดูฉันอย่างมีความสุข He tastes the cake deliciously. เขาชิมขนมอย่างเอร็ดอร่อย He felt my arm softly. เขาสัมผัสแขนของฉันอย่างนุ่มนวล

4.	Adjective ต่อไปนี้อยู่ได้เฉพาะหลัง Verb to be เท่านั้น (อยู่หน้าคำนามไม่ได้)
	ตัวอย่าง He is afraid of the fierce dog.    The students are asleep. I am aware of his importance.	กลัว ง่วงนอนฉัน ตระหนักดีในความสำคัญของพวกเขา

Comparison of adjective and adverb

1.Equality       เปรียบเทียบขั้นเท่าเทียมกัน

As +	Adjective	+ as	ใช้กับประโยคบอกเล่า
	Adverb

So +	Adjective	+ as	ใช้กับประโยคบอกเล่า
	Adverb

The same + noun + as
     - He is as old as you. (are)
     - He is not so old as you. (are)
     - Peter doesn't drive so fast as Paul.

โปรดระวัง    เมื่อเปลี่ยน as … as เป็น the same … as นั้น ต้องเปลี่ยน adjective เป็น noun

old -> age deep -> depth wide -> width long -> length

high -> height  tall - > height heavy -> weight weigh -> weight

    Bill is as tall as Charles.                 They are the same height.
    His ruler is as long as that one.    They are the same length.

2. Comparative เปรียบเทียบขั้นกว่า โดยเติม "er" หรือ more + than

3. Superlative เปรียบเทียบขั้นสูงสุด โดยเติม the + est หรือ most

โปรดระวัง adjective ต่อไปนี้
	good bad   much,many  little	better worse more less	best worst most least	ดี เลว มาก น้อย
	ตัวอย่าง John works well. Jim works better than John. Pim works (the) best. Somchai runs fast. Somsak runs faster. Pichit runs (the) fastest.

ข้อควรสังเกตเป็นพิเศษ
   - เมื่อมีการเปรียบเทียบที่สุดระหว่าง 2 เท่านั้น ต้องใช้ the + comparative
     Of the two girls, Sunee is the more beautiful.
     Between Mary and Alice. Alice is the prettier.

- Any other อื่นใด เมื่อใช้กับ comparative จะมีความหมายเป็น superlative
	No other ไม่มีอื่นใด เมื่อใช้กับ positive จะมีความหมายเป็น superlative
	ตัวอย่าง He is richer than any other people here. = He is the richest	เขาร่ำรวยกว่าคนอื่นในที่นี้ เขารวยที่สุด

- Adjective ขั้นกว่าสามารถเน้นหรือย้ำได้ด้วยการวาง much, far หรือ a lot ไว้ ข้างหน้า
	ตัวอย่าง Tim is much fatter than Tom.    He works much harder than his brother.	ทิมอ้วนกว่าทอม เขาทำงานหนักกว่าน้องชายมาก
	ระวัง ว่าจะต้องเปลี่ยน much เป็น many เมื่อหลัง comparative มีนามพหูพจน์อยู่ He has many more books than I.    (have)

4. Comparative อาจตามด้วย noun ได้โดยไม่ต้องใช้ than ตามหลัง
    ตัวอย่าง
     I want a better job.                            ฉันต้องการงานที่ดีกว่านี้

5.	Older, oldest        เปรียบเทียบด้านอายุ หรือใช้กับสิ่งของ แปลว่า เก่า
	ตัวอย่าง Elder, eldest                                        Henry is older than David               That is the oldest house in the city	เปรียบเทียบด้านอาวุโส เฮนรี่อายุมากกว่าเดวิด บ้านหลังนั้นเป็นหลังที่เก่าที่สุดในเมือง

6.	สำนวนที่ใช้ comparative + and + comparative
	ตัวอย่าง You get thinner and thinner every day.     คุณผอมลง,ผอมลงทุกวัน His voice got weaker and waker.               เสียงของเขาเบาลง และเบาลง

The double comparative

Pattern
    The + Comparative + Subject + Verb …, the + Comparative + S + V
    หมายถึง ยิ่ง… ก็ยิ่ง…
    ตัวอย่าง
     The more we study, the wiser we are.
     ยิ่งเราเรียนมาก เราก็ยิ่งฉลาดมาก
     The harder we work, the more money we get.
     ยิ่งเราทำงานหนักมาก เราก็ยิ่งได้เงินมาก
     The harder he tried, the less progress he made.
      ยิ่งเขาพยายามมากเท่าไร ดูเขาก็ยิ่งก้าวหน้าน้อยลงเท่านั้น
